ENERGY FROM EARTH AND SEA 2025
Generation
Information based on provisional data from January, 2026
Other renewables accounted for 1.7% of overall generation in 2025.
In 2025, electricity generation from other renewables saw an increase of 2.5% compared to the previous year, with the 8% rise in biomass generation being particularly noteworthy. Its share of the Spanish generation mix is still residual. In 2025, it accounted for only 1.7% of the total annual national generation and 3.1% of renewable energy generation.
The amount of self-consumption generation from these technologies is not particularly significant, accounting for only an additional 1.9%.

With regard to generation from other renewables by autonomous community, Andalucía was the community that produced the most electricity from these technologies in 2025, with 1,419 GWh, which represents 30.6% of all the energy from other renewables generated in Spain.
In 2025, Cantabria was the Spanish region with the highest share of generation from other renewables in its energy mix, with 24.0%. Electricity generation from renewable waste in País Vasco also stands out, accounting for 27.4% of national generation from this type of facility.
Once again this year, it is important to highlight the specific case of the Gorona del Viento hydro-wind power station, which covered 43.6% of annual generation in the island of El Hierro with renewable power in 2025, reaching rates of over 80% renewable coverage for 69 days in the year. During the months of June and July, the integration of renewable energy reached 70% and 65%, respectively.
