ENERGY FROM THE SUN 2025
International comparison
Information based on provisional data from January, 2026
For another year, Spain remains one of the countries with the highest levels of solar energy generation and installed capacity, second only to Germany
With regard to solar capacity, Luxembourg is clearly the leading country with the highest percentage of installed solar capacity over its total generation fleet, with a value of 64.1%. Spain, with a percentage of 31.4%, ranks in tenth place, but stays above the average of the ENTSO-E member countries, which on 31 December 2025 was 27.7%. In terms of MW of installed capacity, Spain is in second place, after Germany.
As for the contribution of this source with respect to total generation, Luxembourg is once again in first place, with 31.7% of its production coming from the sun, with Spain in fourth place, coming after Greece and Estonia. In terms of energy generated, Spain ranks second after Germany, followed by the main Mediterranean countries.
