For the second consecutive year, Spain solidifies its position as the country with the most energy generated from solar technology and installed solar capacity, only behind Germany

With regard to solar capacity, Luxembourg is clearly the leading country with the highest percentage of installed solar capacity, with a value of 56.4%. Spain, with a percentage of 24.5%, ranks in twelfth place, but stays above the average of the ENTSO-E member countries, which on 31 December 2024 was 23.5%. In terms of MW of installed capacity, Spain is in second place, after Germany.

As for the contribution of this source compared to total generation, Luxembourg is in first place, with 23.1% of its electricity generation coming from the sun, with Spain ranking in fifth place, coming in after Greece, Estonia, and Lithuania. In terms of generated energy, Spain is in second place after Germany, with other Mediterranean countries at the top of the list.
