Energy not supplied (ENS) and average interruption time (AIT) of the transmission grid

The quality of service indicators for the year 2024 remain below the maximum thresholds established in Royal Decree 1955/2000.
The basic global quality indicators according to Royal Decree 1955/2000 are the Average Interruption Time (AIT) and Non-Supplied Energy (NSE).
In the national electricity system, 17 supply interruptions were recorded in 2024, 11% less than in 2023. This decrease in the incidence of outages is reflected in the NSE, which significantly decreased compared to the previous year (32 MWh in 2024 compared to 159 MWh in 2023). Likewise, the AIT has reached a value of 0.07 minutes (0.34 minutes in 2023), results that are well below the reference value of 15 minutes established in article 26.2 of Royal Decree 1955/2000. The main incident occurred in Galicia, more specifically at the San Cayetano 220 kV substation, with an NSE of almost 7 MWh.
The continuity of supply indicators of the peninsular electricity system showed a decrease in 2024 compared to the previous year. Fourteen supply interruptions were recorded, which collectively accounted for an NSE of 29 MWh (128 MWh in 2023) and an AIT of 0.07 minutes (0.29 minutes in 2023). In the Balearic Islands electricity system, the continuity of supply indicators also decreased in 2024 compared to the previous year, with one supply interruption recorded, representing an NSE of 0.3 MWh (7 MWh in 2023) and an AIT of 0.02 minutes (0.63 minutes in 2023). And lastly, a similar situation occurred in the Canary Islands electricity system, with the NSE standing at 2 MWh (corresponding to 2 supply interruptions) and the AIT at 0.12 minutes. Taking into account the decrease in both NSE and AIT across all electricity systems, the continuity of supply indicators remains once again below the permitted limits this year.
