Energy not supplied (ENS) and average interruption time (AIT) of the transmission grid

The quality of service indicators for 2023 remain below the maximum thresholds established in Royal Decree 1955/2000.
The basic global quality indicators according to Royal Decree 1955/2000 are the Average Interruption Time (AIT) and Energy Not Supplied (ENS).
In the domestic electricity system, 19 supply interruptions were recorded in 2023, 39 % less than in 2022. This decrease in the incidence of outages is reflected in the ENS, which has decreased compared to the previous year (159 MWh in 2023 compared to 562 MWh in 2022). Likewise, the AIT has reached a value of 0.34 minutes (1.18 minutes in 2022), results that are well below the reference value of 15 minutes established in Article 26.2 of Royal Decree 1955/2000. The main incident occurred in Aragon, more specifically, at the Monzón 220 kV substation, with an ENS of 96 MWh.
The continuity of supply indicators of the peninsular electricity system showed a decrease in 2023 compared to the previous year. Thirteen supply interruptions were recorded, which collectively accounted for an ENS of 128 MWh (140 MWh in 2022) and a TIM of 0.29 minutes (0.31 minutes in 2022). In the Balearic Islands electricity system, the indicators of continuity of supply increased in 2023 compared to the previous year, with 4 supply interruptions recorded, representing an ENS of 7 MWh (also 7 MWh in 2022) and a TIM of 0.63 minutes (0.61 minutes in 2022). And lastly, a similar situation occurred in the Canary Islands electricity system, with the ENS standing at 24 MWh (corresponding to 2 supply interruptions) and the AIT at 1.44 minutes. Taking into account the decrease in both ENS and AIT across all electricity systems, the continuity of supply indicators remain once again below the permitted limits this year.
