Spain is the country with the second-highest wind power capacity.

In terms of wind power capacity, Denmark is clearly the leading country, with the highest percentage of installed wind power capacity at 40.9 %. Spain, with a percentage of 26.5 %, is in sixth place, but stays above the average of the ENTSO-E member countries, which on December 31, 2022 was 19.6 %. With regard to MW of installed power capacity, Spain is in second place, after Germany.

As for the contribution of this source in relation to total generation, Denmark is in first place, with 55.7 % of its production coming from wind, while Spain is in seventh place. In terms of GWh generated, Spain is in second place, after Germany.

These data are based on the criteria of Regulation (EU) No 543/2013, encompassing units with an installed power capacity equal to or greater than 1 MW, and therefore differ from the data used for the specific case of Spain at the national level, which consider the total installed power capacity.
